Reflecting back on 2014 has been odd for me. I really feel as if this was the year I came into my own as a writer. I’ve been working on my novel series for two and a half years now, (four books down … last one coming out soon!!!) but it’s only in the past few months that I feel like I’ve really earned the title “writer” in a meaningful way. That old saying is so true. If you want to be a writer, then write. What you need to add to that is that, if you want to me a good writer, keep writing until you are. Anyone can write, this is true, but good writing takes years to develop.
To be honest, I’m REALLY glad I didn’t know that when I first started. YEARS??? Yep, years, and a lot of them. While this would have depressed me when I first started, I know find it encouraging. Now that I’ve got a few years under my belt, I can see my growth as a writer. What will a couple more years bring? What is my potential? I really want to find out, and in the process create solid stories that are well told as well as exciting and emotional for my readers to enjoy.
So, that’s what I did in 2014. What will I do in 2015? Probably more of the same. 🙂
