20 May 2015: Living under a literary rock

I guess I’ve been living under the proverbial literary rock becuase I had no idea a sequel to To Kill a Mockingbird was coming out this summer!  Yeah, you heard me right.  It’s called Go Set a Watchman.

Here, I’m assuming you’re either one of two things …

1: Amazed I had no idea or …

2: WHAT!?! 55 years later we get the sequel!!!

Yeah, I fell under option two myself.  Apparently it takes place 20 years after the events of Mockingbird when Scout returns home.  From what I’ve read, the book was written like forever ago.  Needless to say I already preordered the book on Amazon.  It’s due out July 14.

I LOVE TO Kill a Mockingbird.  First of all, it’s one of my formative years books, one of the stories that really effected me as a child.  I grew up in a very sheltered area and the kind of discrimination described in the book was a complete eye opener to me.  Not only that, but I think it may be my favorite movie adaption of a book.  Not only that, I think it’s my favorite audio book, read by Sissy Spacek.

Anyway, just wanted to share in case you were living under the same rock I was.
